Anonymous Asked:
why do you hate Utah?
My answer:Disclaimer: I also have a lot of reasons for loving Utah, I’m just listing the reasons I hate it because that’s the question that was asked. Also, these are just personal opinions, NOT FACTS.
I hate how conservative the state is as a whole. I hate the lack of culture. I hate how small-minded and bigoted the majority of the population seems to be. I hate feeling judged when I want to wear a bikini or a short sundress or when I’m out hiking in the wilderness in a tank-top and I still get dirty looks. I hate the patriarchy and the lack of sex education of any kind and the standard of ‘Morality’ (which is frequently not met by those who enforce it most vehemently on others). I hate the fact that so many girls my age in this state are already married. I hate being asked if I “belong to The Church” and I hate feeling awkward when missionaries come to my door. I hate that my friends’ parents were suspicious of me when I was in elementary school because I was Catholic and my parents drank in front of me (or, really, that they drank at all). I hate when normal things are closed on Sundays and on the 24th of July. I hate that it’s impossible to find a drink. I hate the fact that Salt Lake City is hardly a city at all. I hate the weather. I hate the fact that there are only two seasons. I hate the inversion in Salt Lake. I hate how bland everything is here. I hate that I feel trapped here, in a place devoid of any life or art. I hate the blind racism, mostly directed towards Latinos. And, honestly, I’ve lived here for eighteen years. I’m bored of this state and I really, really hate being bored.
